Computer Training course offerings  & Schedules
Saint Thomas More Catholic Church and the Paradise Adventist Academy are offering the following computer classes.
Currently we are offering a series of 10 computer courses that cover the introduction as well as some intermediate material.
      

We are starting again on September 21, 2010 with the
PC101.


Note:
All classes are free and open to the parishioners of ST. Thomas More and the members of the Paradise Adventist Church. We will also add some students from other local churches as space permits. Although all classes are free we do encourage all students that attend to make a donations to the Paradise Adventise Church and/or St. Thomas More Catholic Church on behalf of the computer classes and computer lab.

Each course will be presented in 4 sessions of 2 hours on a Tuesday - Thursday schedule. Classes will begin promptly at 4:00 and finish at 6:00 pm.

Each course will require that you have completed the previous course or have the necessary skills targeted by those previous courses except the first course and MS Word.

Outline of each Computer course:

PC101
This is our introduction class that only requires your desire and willingness to learn how to use a computer. Typing skills is a plus but is not a requirement. Owning a computer is desirable but not initially required as long as you have access to a computer.

What you will learn in this course:

  • What is a Computer
  • Some Computer History
  • Basic terms
  • What is Hardware and Software
  • Make you comfortable using a Computer
  • Ability to Start and Stop a Computer
  • Ability to Use and care for a Mouse
  • Ability to Use and care for a Keyboard

DT101 This class will introduce the MS Windows Desktop and how to work with it.

What you will learn in this course:

  • What is a Windows Desktop and it’s Anatomy
  • Address the What, How To Use, Configure, & Customize:
    • Desktop, Icons, Start Menu
    • Themes, Appearance, Screen Saver, Video Settings
    • Taskbar, Taskbar Tabs, System Tray, & System Clock
  • Power Management
    • Log Off, Switch User, Stand By, Turn Off, & Restart Windows
  • How to work with Windows
    • Open, Close, Maximize, Minimize, Scroll, & Resize Windows
    • Create a shortcut
    • Find a hidden or missing window and Restore it
  • Task Manager and its roll in:
    • Applications, Performance, Networking, & User
